What is improved order of the red man?

Improved Order of the Red Men (IORM) is a fraternal organization founded in 1834 in Baltimore, Maryland. The organization is based on the early fraternal society of the Native American tribes that inhabited the continent before the arrival of Europeans. IORM aims to promote the principles of liberty, fraternity, and patriotism, while also celebrating the customs and traditions of the indigenous people of America.

The Improved Order of the Red Men comprises three degrees of membership: the Degree of Adoption, the Warrior's Degree, and the Chief's Degree. Members participate in tribal and ceremonial practices, including the adoption of tribal names and titles.

IORM has a strong focus on philanthropy and community service, working to support hospitals, schools, and charities. The organization also promotes the preservation of Native American culture, history, and artifacts.

Today, the Improved Order of the Red Men has over 16,000 members across the United States. While membership is restricted to men who are 18 years or older and have lineage from a Native American tribe, the organization is open to people of all races and religions.
